Elected to the 10th Assembly District in November 2008, which includes all of Amador County and portions of Sacramento, El Dorado and San Joaquin counties.  Serves as chair of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and the Assembly Select Committee on Lowering California's High School Dropout Rates.  Also serves on other Assembly committees, including Accountability and Administrative Review and the Joint Committee on Emergency Management.  Appointed to the Little Hoover Commission by Speaker of the Assembly John Pérez in March 2010.
