Helen Iris Torres serves as executive director of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), a women’s leadership and advocacy organization. She helped develop and implement the HOPE Leadership Institute.  Ms. Torres is currently serving as an advisory board member for LA Opinion and serves on the board of Alliance for a Better Community. She is the past chair of California Volunteers and past vice chair of the Zero Divide Foundation. In 2012, Ms. Torres on behalf of HOPE received the “advocate” of the year from Latina Style magazine and was also honored by the California Hispanic Chamber as “advocate” of the year in 2013. She also is one of Hispanic Lifestyle’s “Latinas of Influence” honorees in 2013. Appointed to the Little Hoover Commission by Governor Edmund Brown Jr. in April 2016.
