Report #277, December 2023
In late 2019, the Commission launched an assessment of California’s approach to intimate partner violence and produced two reports that included recommendations to strengthen the state’s response.
In its first report, Intimate Partner Violence: Getting the Money to Those on the Front Line, the Commission urged the state to revamp and expedite its process for funding organizations that serve survivors. The Commission’s second report, Beyond the Crisis: A Long-Term Approach to Reduce, Prevent, and Recover from Intimate Partner Violence, laid out a framework for California’s efforts to reduce, prevent, and recover from intimate partner violence.
With this review—which follows a public hearing featuring stakeholders and additional outreach to eight state agencies—the Commission assesses the degree to which its recommendations from these reports have been fulfilled and highlights opportunities for further implementation.
